A classically trained pianist from Latvia, Ksenija is hoping to inspire pupils with her love for music and help them to improve their instrumental and vocal performances. She will be assisting with Year 7 and 8 music lessons, accompanying the choirs, playing in the school orchestra and organising lunchtime recitals amongst many other musical activities.
Emma Bond, Director of Music, comments: “Having such an accomplished pianist in school is an inspiration for all our pupils. Ksenija has already become actively involved in many aspects of school life and she will be performing F. Liszt’s ‘Sei Mir Gegrusst’ at the first Platform Concert of the term.”
Ksenija’s interest in music began with piano lessons at the age of six. Aged 11, she was enrolled at a specialist music school in Latvia before moving to London, aged 17, to study with Andrew Zolinsky at Goldsmiths University. Ksenija is currently completing a Master’s degree in Music Education and Piano Performance with eminent pianist, Sergio de Simone, at Trinity Laban Conservatoire.
“I am really excited to be here and there is so much to look forward to. Working one-to-one with the A-level students will be really interesting and the highlight of the term is definitely going to be the performance of Carmina Burana at St Alfege Church in November,” said Ksenjia.
